  • Group of friends

Very friendly staff, room was clean and spacious. It was noisy above the bar Princess Street. We went down for a drink and a bit of karaoke and had a great time...If you cant beat em...join em.

Would have liked the third bed off the floor and two pillows would have been nice but staff bought a heater to the room as we were a bit chilly so all good really.

  • Couple

very close to city centre shopping & Picadilly Gardens (5min walk)

Extremely loud! This hotel is in an area surrounded by gay clubs & the rooms are above a pub so there is not very much peace & quiet,, we assume the owner lives in the flat above & you could hear them hoovering & rattling keys etc very clearly! - music & karaoke goes on until 2am. Parking is nearby buy cost us £35 for a day & a half.

  • Group of friends

A warm welcome, superb location for a night out on Canal Street, cleanliness of the room, no hassle checking in - we'll be back!

I didn't dislike this, but you should be aware they charge £20 for your key (cash only) which they refund upon departure.

  • Single

The hotel was new in Charles Dickens´ times.

Gay clubs all around, noize until 2.30 A.M. from everyday´s discoteque and from the gay pairs after it. Water drainage in the bathroom didn´t work.

  • Single

    Clean, central, spacious room.

Quite noisy. It's above their bar (it's a hotel-bar) and they have loud music and shows until 2pm. Although my room was far from that, I also had the constant noise from the road (with buses, etc)

  • Single

Apart from the location and the cleanliness of the room there was not a lot else going for the establishment. Ideal though for a gay tourist wanting action as it's right on the doorstep of The Village. Basically it is a "Pub with rooms"

Karoke on the first night went on till 2am as did the disco on the second night. Inadequate soundproofing from the downstairs party events to the bedrooms on the next floor needs attention. The most serious concern was the confusing fire escape signage which directed you to a locked door leading into the bar when in fact it should be directed in the opposite direction. The bedside clock/alarm/radio was broken which I drew to the attention of one of the staff. It was not replaced. The accomodation needs some money spending on it. As there is no staff attending until 8am it is impossible to check out before that time as there is a £20 key deposit if you wished to make an early start back to London as I did.

  • Family with children

This was not really a hotel. It was a bar with very basic and flimsy walled bedrooms in a gay karaoke pub.Fine if you are in the mood to party and the staff were very nice but definitely not if you need any sort of privacy and sleep. The neighbouring room mates leave nothing to the imagination and if they are asleep the traffic outside is bad. Not suitable for children.

  • Group of friends

Easy going, basic but comfortable enough, great location

Needed clean quilt cover on arrival

  • Group of friends

excellent location, friendly staff! would stay again

dont stay here if your planning on getting much sleep :-)

  • Group of friends

Staff were friendly and room was cheap for location.

3 twin beds were requested yet were given double and a single, bathroom door didn't close which made things difficult, room was not adequately supplied

  • Couple

Stayed mid-week and we were very happy after reading some of the other comments that we weren't disturbed by any noise whatsoever. Nice big rooms too.

It's not a hotel. It's a pub with rooms. But I have stayed in proper hotels in which the rooms weren't as nice so...

  • Older travelers

    It is near the city-center

It was too loud - noise from the pub, and one night there was a party in the next room all night and in to the early morning - not good:-/

  • Group of friends

The rooms and bathrooms at the new union were great, perfect size, the bathroom is decorated to a high standard and the beds were comfy. The location was great as right outside our window was Canal Street so we were central to everything. Also the staff were fantastic as they were helpful and friendly and didnt complain when we made a bit of noise.

We had to park in the NCP car park and the new union didnt offer any money back with over night parking which is offered at other hotels i have stayed in, in manchester.

  • Couple

    Nice location, nice staff

    Noice lettle bit

  • Group of friends

I stayed here with a couple of friends on a Tuesday night. We wanted somewhere that was in the city While not costing a furtune. This was the perfect place. The staff were very helpfull!! It was perfect for what we wanted
